Blue Jays from Away

The Blue Jays' affiliates played five games, getting two wins including one from the Buffalo Bisons and one from the Dunedin Blue Jays.

Buffalo Bisons 5, Syracuse Mets (NYM) 4

The Buffalo Bisons (14-11) walked one off, winning the first game of their double header with the Syracuse Mets 5-4 in the bottom of the eighth inning thanks to an RBI single from Dilson Herrera.

While Herrera had the timely hit, going 1-for-4 with the game-winning RBI, catcher Riley Adams was the real hero, going 2-for-2 with two home runs, a walk, a hit by pitch, three RBI and two runs. Richard Urena was 1-for-4 with a double and a run while Christian Colon was 1-for-4. Forrest Wall was 1-for-4 with a single to move the runner to third in the bottom of the eighth and Logan Warmoth was 0-for-1 but walked twice and drove in a run.

Jacob Waguespack gave up all four runs to the Mets, pitching four innings and allowing six hits and three walks with five strikeouts. Connor Overton gave up three hits in 1 1/3 innings but nothing else and Tayler Saucedo struck out four in two scoreless innings. Bryan Baker got the win, walking one in 2/3 of an inning.

Buffalo Bisons 3, Syracuse Mets 6

The Buffalo Bisons (14-12) couldn't sweep the doubleheader, settling for a split as they fell 6-3 to the Syracuse Mets despite having Nate Pearson on the mound.

Pearson started and didn't give up a ton of action but allowed five runs on three hits (one HR) and two walks in four innings, striking out eight. Jackson McClelland allowed a solo home run that also brought in the two runners of Pearson's he inherited in his one inning of work. Dany Jimenez allowed a hit and two walks in his inning, striking out one and Kirby Snead finished it with a scoreless seventh, striking out one.

The Bisons had just six hits including a double from Tyler White who was 2-for-4 with two RBI. Christian Colon was 1-for-4 with an RBI and Richard Urena was 1-for-3 with a walk and two runs. Forrest Wall and Juan Graterol were both 1-for-3.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 4, Binghamton Rumble Ponies (NYM) 11

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats (9-18) continue to scuffle, falling 11-4 to the Binghamton Rumble Ponies.

With seven hits as a club, the offence was highlighted by Jordan Groshans' second home run of the year as he went 2-for-4 with a walk and the solo blast but also committed a fielding error at third base for his seventh of the year. Samad Taylor was 2-for-4 with a double and a run while LJ Talley continues to swing a hot bat, going 1-for-2 with two walks, an RBI and a run. Otto Lopez (Montreal, Que.) was 1-for-5 and Reggie Pruitt was 1-for-3 with a walk, an RBI, a stolen base and was also caught stealing.

Zach Logue was on the mound and he one of his tougher starts, allowing three runs on six hits and four walks in 4 1/3 innings, striking out five. Fitz Stadler allowed another two runs on three hits and a walk with one strikeout in 1 1/3 innings while Graham Spraker allowed a hit and two walks in 1 1/3 innings, striking out one. Brody Rodning took fall, giving up six runs (three earned) on five hits and a walk with one strikeout in 2/3 of an inning before Mike Ellenbest came in to mop up, striking out one in 1 1/3 innings.

Vancouver Canadians 5, Eugene Emeralds (SF) 10

The Vancouver Canadians' (16-12) went into the top of ninth inning down one run but emerged down five as the bullpen surrendered four more runs to the Eugene Emeralds who won 10-5.

Sebastian Espino had a big game on offence, going 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, three RBI and two runs. Philip Clarke was 2-for-4 and DJ Neal was 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI, stealing a base. Rafael Lantigua was 1-for-5 while Tanner Morris was 1-for-4 with a walk and a run, also stealing a base. Shane Horwitz was 1-for-3 with two walks and an RBI.

Nick Fraze had his first tough start of the year, giving up four runs (two earned) on six hits (one HR) with three walks and three strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings. Brandon Eisert also allowed two runs on three hits and two walks with two strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings and Sam Ryan allowed four more runs (three earned) on three hits and three walks despite striking out seven in three innings.

Dunedin Blue Jays 12, Bradenton Marauders (PIT) 2

To finish our report with a big of good news, the Dunedin Blue Jays' (9-19) powered through a dominant seventh inning, extending their lead over the Bradenton Marauders and finishing with a 12-2 win.

The offensive production was well-spread out through the lineup as all but two Blue Jays had hits. PK Morris had the club's only home run, going 1-for-3 with two walks, two RBI and two runs while Mack Mueller was 2-for-5 with a double and three RBI. While he didn't get a hit, Harry Ray was on base three times, going 0-for-2 with three walks, an RBI and two runs while Zach Britton was 1-for-4 with an RBI, two RBI and two runs. Orelvis Martinez was 1-for-5 with an RBI and a run and Addison Barger was 1-for-1 before he came out of the game for Leo Jimenez who was 1-for-3 with a walk and two runs. Batting leadoff, Zac Cook was 1-for-4 with a walk and two runs and in the number nine spot, Jhon Solarte was 1-for-2 with a walk, an RBI, a run and three stolen bases.

Sem Robberse was outstanding on the mound to start, throwing four innings and giving up just two hits with a walk and seven strikeouts. Alejandro Melean was also solid, giving up two runs (one earned) on six hits and a walk with six strikeouts in four more innings. Gabriel Ponce finished the game, allowing a walk and striking out one in the ninth.
