Blue Jays from Away

Buffalo Bisons 2, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Railriders (NYY) 3

All the scoring in this one was done in the third inning as the Buffalo Bisons (12-10) got out on top with two runs but the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Railriders regained the lead with three, holding on to beat the Bisons 3-2.

For the Bisons, Christian Colon had three hits, going 3-for-5 with a double and a run and raising his batting average to .377. Tyler White had a pair of hits including a double and took a walk while Kevin Smith was 1-for-4 with two RBI and Richard Urena was 1-for-5. Riley Adams was 1-for-3 and Nash Knight was 1-for-4 with a run.

Nick Allgeyer went five innings and gave up three runs on seven hits (two HRs) with four walks and four strikeouts, taking the loss. Connor Overton allowed a hit and a walk with one strikeout in his inning while Tayler Saucedo returned to scoreless baseball, striking out one in a 1-2-3 seventh. Bryan Baker walked two and gave up a hit but no one scored in the eighth as he struck out two.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 6, Somerset Patriots (NYY) 1

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats (9-13) won the first game in their doubleheader against the Somerset Patriots by a 6-1 score thanks to an outstanding outing by starter Zach Logue.

Logue, who picked up his third win, went six innings, giving up just a solo home run against him among three hits, struck out a whopping 12 batters without walking anyone. Andrew McInvale came in to finish off the game, throwing one inning and retiring the side in order.

Gabriel Moreno was solid at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a double and two runs. Austin Martin was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk, driving in two while Otto Lopez (Montreal, Que.) was 1-for-4. LJ Talley was 1-for-3 with a run and a walk and Vinny Capra was 1-for-2 with an RBI and a stolen base and Reggie Pruitt was 1-for-2 with a run. Kevin Vicuna was 1-for-2 with a double, a walk and an RBI. Samad Taylor didn't get a hit but was 1-for-3 with a walk and three stolen bases.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 0, Somerset Patriots (NYY) 12

In the second game of the doubleheader, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (9-14) were shut out by the Somerset Patriots 12-0.

The Fisher Cats had just two hits as a club with Kevin Vicuna (1-for-3) and Austin Martin (1-for-2, BB) getting hits.

Cre Finfrock got the start and didn't get out of the first inning, going 1/3 of an inning and giving up five runs on two hits and three walks with one strikeout. Connor Law allowed three runs on five hits (one HR) with one walk and two strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings while Willy Gaston was tagged for four runs on three hits and three walks with three strikeouts in two innings. Mike Ellenbest kept the Patriots off the board with a 1-2-3 sixth, striking out two.

Vancouver Canadians 1, Everett AquaSox (SEA) 9

The Vancouver Canadians' (14-9) couldn't muster much on offence, getting just a run on three hits in their 9-1 loss to the Everett AquaSox.

Third baseman Tanner Morris had two of the hits, going 2-for-4 while Spencer Horwitz was 1-for-4 with a solo home run.

Adam Kloffenstein was on the mound to start, going 1 2/3 innings and giving up six runs on five hits and three walks. Marcus Reyes inherited two runners and allowed them both to score and was charged with three of his own, giving up six hits (one HR) and a walk with three strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings. Cobi Johnson tossed two innings of scoreless relief, allowing a walk and striking out one while Parker Caracci walked two and struck out one in his two innings.
