Blue Jays from Away

In seven games across the Toronto Blue Jays' minor league system, the clubs went3-4 on Saturday.

Buffalo Bisons 8, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (NYY) 4

The Buffalo Bisosn (62-41) opened their doubleheader with the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders with an 8-4 win.

Shortstop Otto Lopez (Montreal, Que.) hit his first triple-A home run, going 2-for-4 with a solo shot and a stolen base while Nash Knight also went deep, going 1-for-3 with a walk, three RBI and two runs. Logan Warmoth was 2-for-4 with a double and a run while Reggie Pruitt was 1-for-2 with a walk, an RBI, a run and a stolen base. Cullen Large was on base three times, going 1-for-2 with two walks and a two runs and Christian Colon (0-for-3, RBI) and Rodrigo Vigil (0-for-2, RBI) had a sac fly each.

Starter Thomas Hatch allowed four runs on seven hits (one HR) with two walks and six strikeouts over five innings but still got the win. Anthony Castro (1 IP, 3 K), and Fitz Stadler (1 IP, 1 H, 1 K) finished it off.

Buffalo Bisons 6, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (NYY) 2

The Buffalo Bisons (63-41) completed their doubleheader sweep with a 6-2 win over the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders.

Catcher Kellin Deglan (Langley, B.C.) had the big blast, going 1-for-1 with a home run, two walks and two RBI. Gregory Polanco was 2-for-4 with a stolen base while Christian Colon was 1-for-4 with a double and two runs. Otto Lopez was 1-for-4 and Richard Urena was 1-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a run. Logan Warmoth was 0-for-1 but walked twice and scored and Tyler White had a similar line, going 0-for-2 with two walks and a run.

This game was more of a bullpen effort with Kyle Johnston starting and going two scoreless innings, allowing a hit and a walk with one strikeout. Jacob Waguespack got the win, throwing a scoreless third, striking out one. Ryan Borucki allowed a run on two hits and two walks with one strikeout in the fourth while Rafael Dolis struck out two in the fifth. Curtis Taylor (Port Coquitlam, B.C.) threw a perfect sixth and Hobie Harris was tagged with a solo home run, striking out one in the seventh.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 1, Portland Sea Dogs (BOS) 7

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats (49-54) offence didn't get much going as they lost 7-1 to the Portland Sea Dogs.

Playing third base, Vinny Capra had another solid game, pushing his batting average to .331 with a 3-for-4 outing, hitting a double and scoring a run. LJ Talley was 2-for-4 with a double and Demi Orimoloye (Orleans, Ont.) was 1-for-4 with an RBI. Samad Taylor was 0-for-2 with a walk but stole his 30th base of the year.

Starter Luis Quinones struck out eight in five innings but was roughed up when the batters made contact, giving up five runs on four hits (two HR) and three walks. Brody Rodning allowed two hits and a walk with two strikeouts in two innings and Adrian Hernandez gave up another home run, allowing two runs on two hits with three strikeouts in the final two innings.

Vancouver Canadians 9, Everett AquaSox (SEA) 10

The Vancouver Canadians (50-57) scored nine runs for the second consecutive game, but fell 10-9 to the Everett AquaSox in 11 innings.

Right fielder Eric Rivera had three hits, going 3-for-4 with three runs and a walk while Zac Cook was 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, a walk, three RBI and a run. Philip Clarke was 1-for-5 with a home run, a walk, two RBI and a run and Tanner Morris was 1-for-6 with a home run, an RBI and two runs. Rafael Lantigua was 1-for-4 with a walk and an RBI while Spencer Horwitz was 1-for-4 with two walks. Luis De Los Santos was 1-for-6 with a run and Will Robertson was 1-for-6 with a double and a run.

Starter Sem Robberse struggled, allowing five runs (three earned) on five hits (one HR) with a walk and four strikeouts in three innings. Hayden Juenger stopped the bleeding, striking out three and giving up two hits in two innings while Gabriel Ponce allowed two hits and two walks with four strikeouts in two innings. Will McAffer (North Vancouver, B.C.) was charged with a blown save as he gave up three runs on a hit and two walks with a strikeout in one inning and Thomas Ruwe continued his dominance in Vancouver, striking out five of the six batters he faced over two innings. Davis Schneider came in for the 11th inning and allowed two runs (one earned) on a home run without retiring anyone.

Dunedin Blue Jays 8, Palm Beach Cardinals (STL) 0

The Dunedin Blue Jays (50-57) shut out the Palm Beach Cardinals, winning 8-0, slugging four home runs on their way to victory.

Addison Barger hit another home run, his 15th on the season, going 1-for-4 with a grand slam and driving in four in the game. Harrison Ray went 1-for-4 with a solo home run while Mack Mueller also hit a solo shot, going 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run. Zach Britton was 2-for-4 with a solo shot, driving in one and scoring once. Riley Tirotta was 2-for-4 with a triple, an RBI and a run while PK Morris was 3-for-4 with a run. Dasan Brown (Oakville, Ont.) was 1-for-5 with a double.

Naswell Paulino was stellar on the mound, going five scoreless innings, allowing just three hits and two walks with six strikeouts. Jimmy Burnette struck out four in two perfect innings and Matt Svanson struck out three in the final two innings.

FCL Blue Jays 3, FCL Tigers East 6

The FCL Blue Jays (23-22) dropped Saturday's game 6-3 to the FCL Tigers East.

Coming into the game and playing third base, Glenn Santiago had a pair of hits, going 2-for-2 with a run while Jhon Solarte was 2-for-2 with a walk, a stolen base and an RBI. Angel Del Rosario was 1-for-3 and Peniel Brito was 1-for-1 with a double and a run before coming out of the game. Amell Brazoban was 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI and Leonel Callez was 1-for-2 with a run.

Starter Dahian Santos allowed four runs on six hits (two HRs) with a walk and six strikeouts in four innings to take the loss while Connor Cooke surrendered a run on two hits (one HR) with a strikeout in one inning. Cesar Ayala allowed an unearned run on two hits with two walks and three strikeouts in the final two innings.

DSL Blue Jays 2, DSL Angels 5

The DSL Blue Jays (22-14) fell to the DSL Angels 5-2 on Saturday.

The Blue Jays had just five hits including two from Luis Garcia (2-for-4), one from Yhoangel Aponte (1-for-2, BB, RBI, SF, R), one from Victor Arias (1-for-3, BB) and one from Jonathan Peguero (1-for-3).

Starter Eliander Alcalde struggled with his control, walking five batters in four inning but only allowed an unearned run on a hit with five strikeouts. Guillermo Villasmil allowed a hit in two innings and Gabriel Ochoa walked one in one inning. Robin De Jesus allowd three runs on a hit and two walks in 1/3 of an inning and Frank Medina allowed all three inherited runners to score, giving up a run of his own on a hit with one strikeout in 2/3 of an inning. Jeury Hiciano pitched a clean ninth.
