Buffalo Bisons 0, Lehigh Valley IronPigs (PHI) 5

The triple-A Buffalo Bisons couldn't complete the sweep of the minor league system on Memorial Day Monday, losing 5-0 to the Lehigh Valley IronPigs.

The Bisons had just five singles to their credit with Teoscar Hernandez going 1/3 with a walk and Anthony Alford (1/4), Richard Urena (1/4, SB, CS), Jordan Patterson (1/3) and Alen Hanson (1/3) each getting a single.

With the pitching staff in tatters, Conor Fisk got the start for a bullpen day, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and a walk with five strikeouts in three innings. Zach Jackson allowed a run on a solo home run among two hits in the fourth, and William Ouellette threw two scoreless frames, striking out three and allowing a hit. Jonathan Cheshire allowed a run on two hits with a strikeout in the final two frames.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 9, Hartford Yard Goats (COL) 2

Two big bats led the way as the double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats beat up on the Hartford Yard Goats 9-2 in Memorial Day action.

Forrest Wall combined with Patrick Kivlehan to provide practically all of the Fisher Cats' offence. Wall was 4/5 with a home run, two doubles, four RBI and three runs while Kivlehan was 5/5 with a home run, four RBI and a run. Nash Knight had two hits, going 2/5 with an RBI and two runs. Vinny Capra was 1/5 with a double and two runs and Riley Adams was 1/3 with a walk and a double.

Hector Perez had another strong outing, going 5 2/3 innings with one run and six hits against him, walking two and striking out four. Tayler Saucedo struck out three in 2 1/3 innings, walking one and giving up a hit and Ty Tice allowed an unearned run on two hits with one strikeout in the ninth.

Lansing Lugnuts 5, Lake County Captains (CLE) 4

The low-A Lansing Lugnuts rallied in the bottom of the eighth inning to get a Memorial Day victory against the Lake County Captains with a 5-4 win.

Jake Brodt hit his club-leading sixth home run of the year, going 1/2 with two walks and two RBI, scoring twice while Gabriel Moreno was 1/4 with a two-run home run, his second of the season. Otto Lopez (Montreal, Que.) was 2/4 with two runs while Ryan Gold was 1/3 with a walk and a double and Rafael Lantigua was 1/3 with a double. Tanner Kirwer (Sherwood Park, Alta.) was 1/2 with a walk and Nick Podkul was 0/3 with an RBI from a sac fly.

Sean Wymer got through five innings, giving up eight hits and a walk but the only two runners to score were the batters who hit solo home runs. Wymer also struck out one. Marcus Reyes allowed a run in the sixth, giving up three hits and a walk with one strikeout while Jackson Rees picked up the win, striking out five in two perfect innings. Will McAffer (North Vancouver, B.C.) allowed a run on two hits in 1/3 of an inning to start the ninth, but Cre Finfrock picked him up, striking out one and retiring the final two batters of the game to earn his first save of the season.
