Blue Jays from Away
In seven games on Thursday, the Blue Jays' affiliates were 4-3.
Buffalo Bisons 3, Charlotte Knights (CWS) 8
The triple-A Buffalo Bisons faltered when looking for the series sweep against the Charlotte Knights, losing 8-3.
Jonathan Davis was 2/3 with a double, a walk, an RBI and a stolen base and he threw a runner out at second base while Richard Urena was also 2/3 with a double and a walk. Bo Bichette was 1/5 with a double, a run and a stolen base while Socrates Brito was 1/4 with a double, a walk and two runs. Rowdy Tellez was 1/4 with an RBI but struck out three times while Reese McGuire was 1/4.
Andrew Sopko got the start, allowing four unearned runs on four hits and three walks with five strikeouts in three innings. Tayler Saucedo gave up four more runs on five hits with two walks and four strikeouts in just 1 2/3 innings. Bryan Baker walked one and struck out two in 1 1/3 innings while Zach Jackson walked one and struck out one in the seventh. Kirby Snead allowed a hit and struck out one in the eighth.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 9, Reading Fightin Phils (PHI) 1
The double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats took on the Reading Fightin Phils on Thursday, beating them 9-1 to open their series.
Forrest Wall had a pair of hits including his ninth home run and drove in two runs and scored a pair. Nash Knight (2/5), Vinny Capra (2/5, SB) and Logan Warmoth (2/3, 2B, BB, 2 RBI, R) each had two hits while Santiago Espinal (1/4, BB, R), Chad Spanberger (1/2, 2B, 3 BB, RBI, R), Kevin Smith (1/4, 2 RBI, R, SF) and Christian Williams (1/4, 2 RBI, R) each had a hit.
Justin Dillon was excellent on the mound, going six scoreless innings, allowing four hits and three walks with six strikeouts before Danny Young took over, allowing three hits in 1 1/3 innings and leaving a runner for Dany Jimenez. Jimenez stranded the runner but gave up a solo home run in the ninth, walking one and striking out three in 1 2/3 innings.

Dunedin Blue Jays 2, Palm Beach Cardinals (STL) 4
The class-A Advanced Dunedin Blue Jays came up short, falling 4-2 in their series opener with the Palm Beach Cardinals.
Cal Stevenson had a pair of singles, going 2/4 with a run while Alejandro Kirk drove in both runs, going 1/3 with a double and a walk. Ryan Noda was 1/3 with a walk and Kacy Clemens was 1/4. Samad Taylor was 1/3 with a walk and a stolen base.
Graham Spraker allowed three runs on nine hits with a walk and three strikeouts over five innings and Turner Larkins gave up a run on two hits with a walk and a strikeout over three innings.

Lansing Lugnuts 8, West Michigan Whitecaps (DET) 0
The low-A Lansing Lugnuts' pitching staff tossed a gem on Thursday night, giving up just six hits as the Lugnuts beat the West Michigan Whitecaps 8-0.
Fitz Stadler got the start, going five innings and allowing five hits with only one walk and three strikeouts. Troy Watson went three innings, giving up a hit and two walks with a strikeout over three innings while Joey Pulido (2/3 IP, K) and Juan Nunez (1/3 IP, K) combined to pitch the ninth.
Otto Lopez (Montreal, Que.) had three hits, going 3/5 with a run while Gabriel Moreno and Ryan Gold were each 2/4 with a double, a home run and three RBI. Griffin Conine broke out of his Oh-fer slump, going 2/4 with a double and two runs (but also two strikeouts) while John Aiello was 2/4. Rafael Lantigua was 1/5 with a double, an RBI and two runs.

Vancouver Canadians 5, Everett AquaSox (SEA) 4
The class-A Short-Season Vancouver Canadians rallied to tie the game in the top of the ninth thanks to a solo home run by Brett Wright and scored the winning run in the 10th to beat the Everett AquaSox 5-4.
While Wright hit the tying home run, going 1/4 with the solo shot, Will Robertson hit a three-run blast in the sixth, going 1/3 with a walk and three RBI. Ronny Brito also drove in a run, going 1/3 with an RBI and Jesus Lopez was 1/2 with a double. Yorman Rodriguez was 1/3 with two walks and a run and Tanner Morris was 0/3 with two walks and a run.
Nick Fraze got the start, allowing two runs on two hits and two walks with three strikeouts in three innings and Jared DiCesare allowed just one run on five hits and a walk with four strikeouts in 3 1/3 innings. Grayson Huffman gave up one more run on four hits with two strikeouts in 1 2/3 innings and Parker Caracci tossed two scoreless innings, walking three and striking out two to pick up the win.

Bluefield Blue Jays 7, Pulaski Yankees (NYY) 2
The Bluefield Blue Jays (Rookie Ball) used a seven-run second inning to defeat the Pulaski Yankees 7-2.
Joseph Reyes had the biggest blow, going 2/4 with a three-run home run in the second inning. Steward Berroa was 1/3 with a walk and a run, stealing a base while Miguel Hiraldo was also 1/3 with a walk and a run, driving in a run and stealing a base. Patrick Morris was 1/4 with an RBI and Davis Schneider was 1/3 with an RBI and a run, hitting a sac fly. Ryan Sloniger was 1/4 and Angel Camacho was 1/4 with a run. Eric Rivera was 1/3 with a run and Anthony Morales was the only batter not to get a hit, going 0/3 with a run.
On the mound, Felipe Castaneda allowed just two runs (one earned) on five hits and three walks in 5 1/3 innings, striking out five while Aldo Ovando allowed a hit and two walks in 1 2/3 innings. Austin Havekost allowed just a hit in two innings, striking out a pair.

The DSL Blue Jays fell 10-5 to the DSL Orioles1.
The Blue Jays hitters combined for 10 hits with Juan Pizarro going 2/4 with a triple, a walk, an RBI, a run and a stolen base while Emanuel Sanchez also had two hits, going 2/5. Francisco Fajardo had another big game, going 3/3 with a double, a walk, a stolen base and two runs while Yeison Jimenez was 1/4 with a walk and a stolen base. Junior Ramos was 0/4 but drove in two runs and had a sac fly. Willfrann Astudillo was 1/3 with a walk.
Fernando Chacon started, allowing five runs (four earned) on seven hits and two walks with three strikeouts in 4 2/3 innings before Francis Mercedes came on to allow another five runs (four earned) on four hits (including a home run) and three walks in just one inning. Gerardo Santana walked one and struck out one 2 1/3 scoreless innings while Raudy Sanchez allowed a hit and two walks with one strikeout in the ninth.
