Blue Jays from Away
With five games on the slate, the Blue Jays' affiliates went 2-3 on Monday.
Buffalo Bisons 10, Pawtucket Red Sox (BOS) 6
The triple-A Buffalo Bisons won again, beating the Pawtucket Red Sox 10-6.
Jonathan Davis and Patrick Kivlehan had hot bats, going 2/4 with two home runs and a walk each. Davis drove in five runs, scoring three times while Kivlehan drove in three and scored twice. Alen Hanson was 2/3 with a double, a walk, a stolen base, an RBI and a run and Bo Bichette was 2/4 with a walk, an RBI, two runs and two stolen bases. Andy Burns was 1/5 with a stolen base and a run and Roemon Fields was 1/4 with a run.
Thomas Pannone had a strong start for The Herd, going five innings and allowing just a solo home run (among five hits) to score, walking two and striking out five. Corey Copping was victimized for four runs on four hits (including two home runs) and three walks with two strikeouts in 2/3 of an inning and Zach Jackson allowed two hits and struck out three in 1 1/3 innings. Justin Shafer allowed a run on two hits with three strikeouts in the final two innings.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 4, Portland Sea Dogs (BOS) 8
The double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats fell 8-4 to the Portland Sea Dogs on Monday.
Kevin Smith hit two doubles and walked, scoring twice while Chad Spanberger, pinch running for Christian Williams in the fifth inning, hit a home run in the ninth, a solo shot, going 1/2. Williams was 1/2 and Santiago Espinal was 2/4 with a double and an RBI. Forrest Wall was 1/4 with a run and a stolen base and Nash Knight was 1/4.
Zach Logue, named to the All-Star Game along with Knight, Wall, and Espinal, allowed seven runs on six hits (including two home runs) and two walks with two strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings. Jackson McClelland allowed a run on a hit and hit a batter, striking out two in 1 2/3 innings and allowing both inherited runners to score while Jake Fishman allowed two hits, striking out three in two innings to finish the game.

Vancouver Canadians 4, Hillsboro Hops (ARI) 13
The class-A Short-Season Vancouver Canadians continue to have trouble scoring, losing 13-4 to the Hillsboro Hops.
Cameron Eden had two of the club's five hits, going 2/5 with two RBI while Dom Abbadessa was 2/3 with a walk, an RBI and a run. Ryan Sloniger was 1/4 with a run.
Juan Diaz started, giving up two runs on four hits with three walks and four strikeouts in three innings. Adams Cuevas followed, allowing two runs on two hits and a walk (with a hit batter) and one strikeout in two innings and Nicolas Medina allowed five runs on seven hits with a strikeout in 2/3 of an inning. Gage Burland gave up four more runs on five hits with a walk in one inning and Grayson Huffman was the only pitcher who wasn't scored upon, striking out three in 1 1/3 innings, hitting two batters.

GCL Blue Jays 4, GCL Tigers West 9
The GCL Blue Jays saw some older faces as they got their season underway but they still lost 9-4 to the GCL Tigers West.
Javier D'Orazio, newly promoted from the DSL, and Jhon Solarte each had three hits with D'Orazio hitting a double, driving in a run and scoring while Solarte stole a base and scored. Orelvis Martinez was 2/4 with an RBI and a run, stealing home successfully. Alberto Rodriguez was 2/4 with a double, an RBI and a stolen base while Hugo Cardona was 1/5 with a run. Cullen Large got into some action, going 1/1 before being pinch hit for by Jose Rivas who was 1/4.
On the mound, Julian Merryweather, coming back from Tommy John surgery, got the start, giving up two runs on four hits with three strikeouts in two innings. Adrian Hernandez pitched an inning, allowing a hit and struck out one while rehabbing Juan De Paula gave up a solo home run among three hits with two strikeouts in two innings. Austin Havekost took the loss, going on inning and giving up a walk and a home run, striking out one and Julian Valdez allowed a hit in the seventh. Brayan Mejia walked two in the eighth and allowed three runs (two earned) before Ronald Govea came in to mop up, allowing a run on three hits (including a home run) in 2/3 of an inning.

DSL Blue Jays 10, DSL Reds 3
The DSL Blue Jays blasted their way to an early lead, scoring nine runs over the first two innings on their way to a 10-3 win over the DSL Reds.
The DSL Blue Jays till haven't registered a home run but had 13 hits in their win, getting three from Glenn Santiago who was 3/4 with a double, a triple, an RBI and three runs. Adrian Montero was 2/4 with a double, four RBI and a run and Daniel Oliva (2/4, RBI, R) and Juan Pizarro (2/4, RBI, 2 R) were both 2/4. Amell Brazoban was 1/4 with an RBI and a run and Leonel Callez was 1/3. Junior Ramos and Francisco Fajardo were each 1/4 with Ramos driving in a run.
Soenni Martinez started and earned his first win, going five innings and giving up two runs on five hits and two walks, striking out six. Alcindo Pontes followed with a scoreless inning, striking out one and Andres Garcia allowed an unearned run over two innings, giving up a hit and two walks, striking out two. Juan Martinez finished it off with a clean ninth.
