Blue Jays from Away

Buffalo Bisons 3, Syracuse Chiefs 8

The triple-A Buffalo Bisons dropped another game to the Syracuse Chiefs, losing 8-3.

Reese McGuire, getting a little more time on the field with Danny Jansen recovering from a bruised hand, took advantage, going 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI. Gift Ngoepe was 2-for-2 with two walks and a solo home run. Richard Urena was 1-for-4 with a run and Tim Lopes and Roemon Fields had a single each.

Nick Tepesch started, allowing six runs (five earned) on eight hits and a walk over 3 1/3 innings, striking out two. Luis Santos allowed a run on three hits in 2 2/3 innings with three strikeouts. Al Alburquerque allowed an unearned run on three hits with a strikeout in the final two innings.

Roster Notes: The Blue Jays promoted Jake Petricka with Ryan Tepera going on the DL and received Andrew Guillotte from New Hampshire.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 0, Trenton Thunder 6

The double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats were shut out for the first time this season, losing 6-0 to the Trenton Thunder. Connor Panas had two of the club's three hits with Jonathan Davis hitting a double for the other one.

Jordan Romano (Markham, Ont.) allowed five runs (three earned) on five hits and two walks with three strikeouts over six innings and Nick Hartman allowed a solo home run among two hits with one walk and one strikeout over two innings.

Roster Notes: Andrew Guillotte went up to the Buffalo Bisons and Eduard Pinto was promoted to New Hampshire from Dunedin.

Dunedin Blue Jays 10, Bradenton Marauders 3

The class-A Advanced Dunedin Blue Jays won their second consecutive game against the Bradenton Marauders, winning 10-3.

Santiago Espinal made his Blue Jays debut, playing second base and going 2-for-4 with a walk, a triple, an RBI and three runs. Kevin Smith was 2-for-5 with a double and two RBI at shortstop and Rodrigo Orozco was 2-for-4 with a double, an RBI and two runs. Ivan Castillo, playing third base, was also 2-for-4 with a walk and a run. David Jacob had only one hit but it was his third home run of the season, a solo shot in the sixth inning and he added another RBI. Joshua Palacios drove in three runs, going 1-for-4 with a walk, a double and two runs. Riley Adams and Kacy Clemens were each on twice with a walk and a hit. Adams' hit was a double.

Patrick Murphy earned his fifth win,tossing 5 2/3 innings, allowing three runs on six hits and two walks with four strikeouts. Andy Ravel allowed two hits but all three inherited runners from Murphy scored in the sixth as he added a scoreless seventh inning, striking out one and giving up two hits. Ty Tice put together a scoreless eighth, walking one and giving up a hit with two strikeouts and Jackson McClelland had a 1-2-3 ninth, striking out two.

Lansing Lugnuts 6, Great Lakes Loons 13

The Lansing Lugnuts couldn't put away the Great Lakes Loons again, losing 13-6 on Saturday.

Ryan Gold had three hits, going 3-for-5 with a double while Freddy Rodriguez was 3-for-4 with a walk and a run. Chavez Young was 1-for-5 with a solo home run in the ninth and Kevin Vicuna hit his second home run of the year, a solo shot in the first, going 2-for-5. Brandon Grudzielanek walked three times and Jesus Navarro was 0-for-2 but walked and drove in two runs, one of them on a sacrifice fly.

Colton Laws took the loss, allowing five runs on five hits and a walk with one strikeout in 1 2/3 innings. Emerson Jimenez stranded the runner on base in the second and pitched 2 1/3 innings, allowing four runs on two hits and three walks with one strikeout. He left the bases loaded for Andrew Deramo who allowed all three to score and gave up four runs of his own (two earned), surrendering five hits and two walks with four strikeouts before Claudio Custodio pitched a 1-2-3 ninth, striking out one.

Vancouver Canadians 3, Salem-Keizer Volcanoes 2

In a brisk, two-hour-and-seven-minute game, the class-A Short-Season Vancouver Canadians held on to win 3-2 over the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes. The Canadians' offense was powered by a pair of solo home runs, including one from the red-hot Bryan Lizardo and one from Mc Gregory Contreras, both players were 1-for-3. Vinny Capra was on base twice, scoring a run and going 1-for-3 with a walk. Jake Brodt drove in the club's third run.

Josh Winckowski was on the hill and picked up his first win in Vancouver, going six innings and allowing two runs on four hits with three strikeouts. Marcus Reyes pitched two scoreless innings, allowing three hits and Cobi Johnson saved it, striking out one in the ninth.

Bluefield Blue Jays 7, Greeneville Reds 3

The rookie-class Bluefield Blue Jays continue to roll over their opposition and salvaged a win with a four-run ninth inning in a 7-3 win over the Greeneville Reds, taking advantage of the Reds' five errors.

D.J. Neal led the way with three hits including a double, a walk, an RBI and a stolen base while Jose Theran also had three hits including a double, an RBI and two runs. Otto Lopez was 2-for-5 with two RBI and a run and Davis Schneider walked twice, going 0-for-3 but scoring and stealing a base. Cal Stevenson was 1-for-4 with a walk and a run and threw out two runners on the bases.

Nathanael Perez allowed just two runs on seven hits and two walks over five innings, allowing a home run but striking out seven. Grant Townsend surrendered a run on two hits and two walks over two innings, striking out a pair and blowing the save but Sean Rackoski got the win with two scoreless innings of relief, allowing a hit and two walks but striking out four.

GCL Blue Jays, GCL Phillies West

Game suspended in the eighth in a 4-4 tie.

DSL Blue Jays 4, DSL White Sox 1

The DSL Blue Jays got some great pitching to beat the DSL White Sox 4-1.

Rainer Nunez provided three hits, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI and two runs. Jose Zepeda was 3-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base while Erickvi Celedonio was 2-for-4 with a run and Alberto Rodriguez was 2-for-4 with a run and two stolen bases.

Ronald Govea was strong in his start, going four innings and allowing a run on four hits and two walks with three strikeouts but Adrian Hernandez closed things out with panache, allowing just four hits and a walk with seven strikeouts in five innings.
