Jay Blue: Fisher Cats win Eastern League championship

The double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats may have been thinking that they were playing Quidditch because they brought out the brooms in both series in their Eastern League Playoffs and won the league championship after defeating the Akron RubberDucks in three straight games.

Eastern League MVP Cavan Biggio hit a solo blast but it was veteran Jon Berti carrying the offence on their way to an 8-5 victory to sweep the Akron RubberDucks in the Eastern League finals.
Berti was 3/4 with two RBI and two runs, stealing a base to lead the way. Biggio was 1/3 with a walk, a solo home run and two runs while Harold Ramirez drove in two, going 1/3 with a sac fly an a double. Bo Bichette was 1/4 with a stolen base and Santiago Espinal was 1/3 with a walk, a run and a stolen base but was caught stealing twice. Patrick Cantwell also hit a double, going 1/4 with an RBI and a run while Joshua Palacios was 1/3 with an RBI and a sac fly.
Jordan Romano (Markham, Ont.) needed 78 pitches to go 4 1/3 innings, giving up three runs on six hits with five strikeouts and no walks before Danny Young came in with two runners on, allowing one to score and giving up a run of his own in two innings, allowing only a hit and striking out two. Kirby Snead finished the seventh inning, coming in with a runner on and allowing him to score, giving up a hit and a walk in 2/3 of an inning. Dusty Isaacs pitched a scoreless eighth, striking out one and Travis Bergen allowed a run in the ninth, giving up a hit.
