The triple-A Buffalo Bisons' bats gave them the power to come back and win but the other minor league hitters had trouble keeping up with their opposition as the clubs went 1-3 on Sunday.
Buffalo Bisons 10, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders 8
Sean Reid-Foley made his first start of 2019 for the Buffalo Bisons and got lit up but it wasn't the end as the Bisons' bullpen and offence bailed him out to come up with an 10-8 win over the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders.
Reid-Foley went just three innings, giving up eight runs (six earned) after getting into a lot of trouble in the fourth inning. Reid-Foley allowed a run in the first but struck out the side in order in the second. He gave up two more runs in the third but started the fourth with two walks before Gosuke Katoh hit a home run and Matt Lipka got on via an error by Bo Bichette. Reid Foley walked the next batter and gave up another run when Trey Amburgey singled to drive a run in. Overall, Reid-Foley gave up the eight runs after Jordan Romano (Markham, Ont.) allowed one of two inherited runners to score and SRF had five hits (including two home runs) and four walks with four strikeouts.
Romano, making his first Bisons appearance since last year (and first in the Blue Jays' system since being returned by the Rangers), tossed three more innings, allowing just two walks and striking out three as he stretches back out to be able to start for the pitching-challenged Bisons. Derek Law went out for the seventh and tossed 1 2/3 innings of one-hit, one-run ball, striking out two. Danny Barnes took over, getting four outs for the save.
Eric Sogard had another big game, going 2/3 with a home run, a walk, three RBI and three runs while Andy Burns was 2/3 with two RBI, a sacrifice fly and a walk and Roemon Fields was 2/4 with two runs scored. Anthony Alford was 1/4 with his first home run of the year, adding a walk and three RBI while Jordan Patterson drove in two runs, going 1/4 with a walk. Cavan Biggio was 1/2 with three walks and two runs while Michael De La Cruz was 1/5 with a run and four strikeouts as the DH.

New Hampshire Fisher Cats 2, Binghamton Rumble Ponies 4
The double-A New Hampshire Fisher Cats got a stellar performance from starter Zach Logue but the bullpen couldn't hold the lead as the Fisher Cats lost 4-2 to the Binghamton Rumble Ponies in 12 innings on Saturday.
Logue was perfect through five innings and finished with a stellar six innings of two-hit, one-run (unearned) ball without walking anyone and striking out five in his double-A debut. Andrew Case (Saint John, N.B.) picked up a blown save, throwing three innings and giving up a solo home run to tie it in the seventh. Ty Tice allowed two runs (one earned) over 2 1/3 innings, striking out four before Jackson McClelland stranded two runners in the 12th, getting the final two outs.
The offence walked 10 times could only manage two runs with eight hits as a group. Alberto Mineo (2/5, 2B, BB) and Nash Knight (2/6, R, SB) had two hits each. Joshua Palacios was 1/4 with a double and two walks, stealing a base and getting caught and Vinny Capra was 1/3 with an RBI, two walks and a stolen base. Chad Spanberger drove in a run, going 1/4 with two walks and Kevin Smith was 1/4 with a walk.
L: Ty Tice (0-1)
Player of the Game: Zach Logue
Dunedin Blue Jays 3, Clearwater Threshers 8
Nick Allgeyer had a tough start to his A-ball career but he recovered with a strong start but the offence couldn't keep up with a late surge from the Clearwater Threshers in an 8-3 loss.
Allgeyer needed 28 pitches in the first inning, giving up two runs before settling down and striking out the final two batters in the inning. He then struck out two more to start the second and managed to get through 4 2/3 innings, striking out eight in total and giving up three runs (two earned) on six hits (including a home run) without walking anyone.
Matt Shannon allowed a run on two hits and a walk with two strikeouts in 1 1/3 innings and Emerson Jimenez took the biggest hit of the night, giving up four runs (three earned) on four hits and two walks with two strikeouts in one inning. Brad Wilson made his first appearance for Dunedin, striking out two and giving up a hit in the eighth.
The batters had just six hits including a double from Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (Montreal, Que.). Ryan Noda was 1/4 with a double and a walk and Chavez Young was 1/4 with a double and a run. Cullen Large was 1/4 with an RBI and Christian Williams and Logan Warmoth each had a hit with Warmoth adding a walk and was hit by a pitch, stealing a base and scoring a run.
L: Nick Allgeyer (0-1)
Player of the Game: Nick Allgeyer and Logan Warmoth
Lansing Lugnuts 4, Fort Wayne TinCaps 8
Coming to Toronto in the deal that sent Kevin Pillar to San Francisco, righty Juan De Paula made his debut in his new organization and struggled, talking the loss as the low-A Lugnuts fell 8-4 to the Fort Wayne TinCaps.
De Paula struggled with his control, giving up three runs on five hits and three walks with just one strikeout in 3 1/3 innings. While he showed good fastball velocity and a sharp-breaking slider, he had little command and the Fort Wayne hitters knew it. De Paula was followed by Josh Hiatt who stranded two inherited runners but allowed five runs (two earned) on five hits and a walk, giving up a home run and striking out two in 3 2/3 innings. Jackson Rees finished the game for the Lugnuts, tossing two scoreless innings, allowing a hit and a walk with three strikeouts in his Lansing debut.
Otto Lopez (Montreal, Que.) had a pair of hits, going 2/4 with a walk, an RBI and a run while stealing two bases. Jordan Groshans was 1/3 with a walk and a single but also made an error at shortstop. Hagen Danner hit his first home run of the year, going 1/4 while Jake Brodt (1/4, SB), Nick Podkul (1/4) and Reggie Pruitt (1/5, 2B) had a hit each. Mc Gregory Contreras also had two hits, going 2/4 with a double, an RBI and a run.
