The Junior National Team earned their second win of the Dominican Professional Academy Camp with a 9-5 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates DSL team on Thursday.

The Juniors scored nine runs on eight hits in the contest.

Box Score

Ryan Press (Toronto, Ont.) started for the Juniors and allowed just one earned run on three hits, while striking out six batters, in four innings.

The Juniors had a big five-run second inning, capped by a Benito Bonilla (Halifax, N.S.) two-run single. Brendan Lawson (North York, Ont.) also had a clutch two-run single in the top of the seventh to extend the Juniors lead.

Tate Carey (Windsor, Ont.) relieved Press and permitted two earned runs and struck out six in 3 2/3 innings. Owen Fernandes (Maple Ridge, Ont.) closed out the game with a scoreless bottom of the ninth.

Second Game

The Junior National Team dropped the second game of their doubleheader 10-3 to the Boston Red Sox DSL squad on Thursday.

The Juniors scored three runs on seven hits in the contest.

Box Score

Juniors starter Owen Slater (Whitby, Ont.) was dominant in his five innings, giving up just two hits, while striking out four.

The Canadians got on the board first thanks to a BJ Peart (Markham, Ont.) RBI double in the top of the second inning.

The Juniors added two more runs in the eighth after Matt Evans (Tillsonburg, Ont.) bunted for a single and sparked a rally that was capped with a Myles Naylor (Mississauga, Ont.) two-run single.

Marek Lalonde (Valleyfield, Que.) also had a notable performance at the dish, collecting a pair of hits.
