The Junior National Team tied the Philadelphia Phillies DSL squad 1-1 in the first game of the Dominican Professional Academy Camp.

Both teams scored their only runs in the first inning.

The big offensive blow for the Juniors came off the bat of Deiten Lachance (Sherbrooke, Que.) who doubled in the first inning, driving in Myles Naylor (Mississauga, Ont.) for the team’s only run.

Sean Duncan (Port Coquitlam, BC) got the start for the Juniors and set the tone for the rest of the staff with four solid innings, allowing just one run on two hits while striking out four.

Michael Yusypchuk (Edmonton, Alta.) took care of the middle innings, cruising through four scoreless frames, allowing only one hit while striking out three. Owen Fernandes (Maple Ridge, BC) closed out the game with a perfect one-two-three ninth inning, striking out the last two batters.
