SAINT PETERSBURG, FL--- Simon Lusignan (Varennes, Que.), Vic Domingo (Vancouver, BC) and Caleb Clark (Orillia, Ont.) had solid outings on the mound for the Junior National Team but it was the Fort Lauderdale Stars who came away with a 4-0 win as spring training action continued at Baseball City.

BOX SCORE

The juniors were held to just three hits on the afternoon with Gio Mezzomo (Coquitlam, BC) contributing a pair of doubles including a shot to centre in the sixth that nearly left the yard. Mezzomo reached third on a Brando Leroux (Markham, Ont.) ground out but was left stranded.

GAME BREAKDOWN

Lusignan escaped trouble in the first after allowing back-to-back singles to open the frame starting when Owen Caissie (Burlington, Ont.) nabbed a runner at third from right field attempting to go first-to-third before an inning-ending double play ended the threat.

The Stars then took advantage of a one-out error in the second and a hit batter to open the scoring one an RBI single to right field.

The run was not charged to Lusignan and he ended his three-inning outing allowing four hits while recording one strikeout.

Vic Domingo (Vancouver, BC) took over for Lusignan in the fourth and worked a perfect frame including one strikeout before the Stars took a two run lead in the fifth on a sacrifice fly.

That’s all the Stars got off Domingo as he worked around a two-out single in the sixth and recorded two of his four strikeouts on the afternoon.

Caleb Clark (Orillia, Ont.) entered the game in the seventh and worked two scoreless innings before the Stars added a pair of insurance runs in the ninth thanks to a sacrifice fly and RBI single.

He surrendered two runs on three hits and three walks while striking out a pair.
