HOOVER, Ala. – Auburn senior Jay Estes and freshman Edouard Julien earned SEC All-Tournament Team honors after leading the team to its best SEC Tournament showing since 2003 at Hoover Metropolitan Stadium.
It marks the first time Auburn has had multiple All-Tournament Team members since 2003.
Estes went 7-for-16 with two runs scored, one double, three RBIs and three stolen bases in the four games in Hoover. He hit safely in all four games and turned in two hits in each of the first three contests.
The Crawfordville, Fla., native came through with a two-run double in the eighth inning in Auburn’s come-from-behind win vs. Ole Miss Wednesday before matching the Tigers’ SEC Tournament game record with a pair of stolen bases versus Texas A&M Thursday. Estes also matched the program’s SEC Tournament record with three stolen bases throughout the week.
Julien went 4-for-16 with two runs, one home run and five RBI in his first SEC Tournament. He delivered the Tigers’ first walk-off hit in Hoover since 1999 and followed it a day later with a grand slam to down the Rebels.
The Quebec City native stepped to the plate in the bottom of the 11th inning of the SEC Tournament opener against Kentucky and delivered a walk-off single into left-center to send the Tigers into the double-elimination format. Julien was 0-for-4 with three strikeouts before the clutch hit. Twenty-four hours later, he launched a ninth-inning grand slam to cap off the scoring in Auburn’s comeback win versus Ole Miss. The grand slam was Julien’s third of the season and the team’s fifth.
