ABC and Junior National Team alum Edouard Julien has been named the Arizona Fall League’s Breakout Player of the Year.

Starring for the Glendale Desert Dogs, the Quebec City, Que., native finished with a .400 batting average in 21 games to lead the AFL. He also topped the circuit with a .563 OBP and 1.248 OPS and was second in slugging percentage (.686) and third in total bases (48).

His outstanding AFL performance comes on the heels of an excellent season with the Minnesota Twins’ double-A Wichita Wind Surge. In his second pro campaign, Julien batted .300 and posted a .441 OBP and a .931 OPS in 113 games. He also belted 17 home runs, walked 98 times and stole 19 bases.

For his efforts, he was named the second baseman on Baseball America’s Double-A All-Star Team.

Selected in the 18th round of the 2019 MLB draft out of Auburn University, Julien received a $493,000 signing bonus from the Twins.

In 2021, he split his first pro season between class-A and Advanced-A, batting .267 with a .434 OBP. He drew 110 walks and belted 18 home runs, while also stealing 34 bases.

Baseball America ranks him as the Twins’ No. 10 prospect.
