Junior ball coming to Northumberland next season

Northumberland Baseball has formed the Northumberland Jacks 22U Club.

This particular team will be the first in association’s history to compete in the Junior age rep division and will begin play in the 2022 season.

The head coach of the team is former fireballer Kris Kelly and the manager of the team is well-respected, hard-working Todd Denault. Kelly is of the famous Kelly pitching family. He pitched for the Northumberland Whiskey Jacks under manager Rodney Carl Zaine and later with the Ottawa-Nepean Canadians and manager Don Campbell.

The team will play their home games in Cobourg’s historic Donegan Park, which has recently undergone extensive renovations, and will be exclusively outfitted and equipped by Sommerville’s Sporting Goods, a family owned and operated establishment, which has been serving its customers in Cobourg since 1952.

Beginning next season, the team which will classify at the AAA level, will also compete annually in the provincial eliminations.
