The Junior National Team fell short again in a 3-1 loss to the USA Baseball National Development Program (Red) team on Saturday.

The Canadians had seven hits but managed only one run.

Anthony Clavet (Québec, Que.) continues to lead the charge offensively for the Juniors, finishing his day 2-for-4.

Tim Piasentin (Coquitlam, B.C.) had a perfect day at the plate, walking twice and smashing a pair of singles in his four plate appearances.

The only run for the Canadians came via a Dante Smith (Ajax, Ont.) RBI fielder’s choice that scored Ryan Stalony (Mississauga, Ont.) in the top of the sixth inning.

On the mound, Sean Duncan (Port Coquitlam, B.C.) started for the Junior National Team and allowed three earned runs on three hits, while striking out three, in 2 2/3 innings.

Sheamus Ryan (Calgary, Alta.) then entered in relief and held the U.S. off the scoreboard for 2 1/3 innings before Aiden Taggart (Grimsby, Ont.) struck out four in two perfect innings. Max Poirier (Nanaimo, B.C.) was the last arm to come out of the Canadian bullpen. He also threw two scoreless innings and struck out four to close out the game in his Junior National Team debut.
