Nothing came easy for the Junior National Team on Thursday, as they fell 12-5 to the Boston Red Sox DSL squad.
Elliot Cadieux-Lanoue (St. Pie, Que.) was the starting pitcher for the Juniors, going four strong innings allowing only two hits and one earned run, striking out seven batters. Matteo Pare (LaSalle, Ont.) came in relief and worked three innings, permitting five runs on eight hits while striking out four.
Dylan O'Rae (Sarnia, Ont.) sparked the Juniors’ offence at the top of the lineup, collecting a hit in three at bats and scoring a pair of runs. Hugh Pinkney (Toronto, Ont.) also registered a hit in three at bats while driving in two runs for his club. Ty Hamilton (Orleans, Ont.) is officially on a streak, collecting a pair of hits, including a double, in four at bats and scoring a run to help the Juniors’ cause.
Detien Lachance (Sherbrooke, Que.) also smashed an RBI single in four at bats that temporarily tied the game at three in the top of the fourth. Max Hartman (Okotoks, Alta.) also collected an extra-base hit in four at bats, while driving in a run for his squad.
Despite the strong offensive show, the Juniors committed four errors and allowed 10 hits, which led the Red Sox to pull away late in the game.
