Hartman, O’Rae, Thomas shine in juniors’ loss to DSL Giants

The Junior National Team out-hit the San Francisco Giants DSL squad six to four, but it wasn't enough in a 6-3 loss on Friday morning in the first game of a doubleheader.

Carson Latimer (Delta, BC) was the starting pitcher on the mound for the Juniors. The right-hander went 3 2/3 innings, allowing three runs, none of them earned, on two hits and striking out three. Zak Szabo (Whitby, Ont.) worked two innings and allowed three runs on two hits while issuing a pair of walks and a pair of strikeouts. Kaleb Thomas (Hagersville, Ont.) was the next man out of the bullpen for the Juniors, throwing two scoreless innings to close this one out.

The Juniors’ offence racked up six hits and nine walks. Dylan O'Rae (Sarnia, Ont.) had a perfect day at the dish going 2-for-2 driving in and scoring a run for his club while collecting a pair of free passes. Max Hartman (St. Albert, Alta.) also had himself a day at the plate, collecting three hits in four at bats. Sam White (Aurora, Ont.) contributed to the Juniors’ offence with an RBI single in three at bats. Charles-Olivier Cyr (Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Que.) went 1-for-2 with a triple and a run scored.
