The Junior National Team out-hit the Philadelphia Phillies DSL team seven to six, but it wasn't enough in a 5-3 loss on Saturday morning in the last match-up of the 2022 Dominican Professional Academy Camp.

Box Score

Parker Burgess (Douro-Dummer, Ont.) led things off on the mound for the Juniors, working three-plus innings, allowing three runs on two hits while striking out three batters. Reece Usselman (Langley, BC) took over in the top of the fifth inning, allowing two runs on four hits and striking out five over four innings.

Cameron Chee-Aloy (Toronto, Ont.) collected a pair of hits, including a double in five at bats to lead the Juniors’ offence. Hugh Pinkney (Toronto, Ont.) was busy on the base paths, collecting a hit in two at bats with a pair of walks. Josh Jones (Blainville, Que.) collected a hit in two at bats driving in a run for his club and receiving a free pass. Deiten Lachance (Sherbrook, Que.) had a good day at the dish going 2-for-4 with a pair of singles. Sam White (Aurora, Ont.) also collected a hit in four at bats and received a free pass.

Despite the Juniors racking up seven hits and 12 walks, the offence only managed to score three runs and it wasn’t enough to beat the Phillies in a tight match up to close out the camp.
