Sheamus Ryan (Calgary, Alta.) and William Labonte (Montreal, Que.) carved through the first six innings, each going three complete frames and permitting only a hit while combining for 10 strikeouts against the Red Sox bats.

The Juniors were held hitless until the eighth when a clutch two-run triple by Maxime Boies (Levis, Que.) got the Canadians on the board.

Simon Baker (Cochrane, Alta.) provided some insurance with an RBI single in the top of the ninth that extended the Canadian lead to 3-0.

Mark Rogers (Cambridge, Ont.) worked in and out of trouble picking up a couple of strikeouts over his three scoreless innings.

Nathan Flewelling (Red Deer, Alta.) led the charge offensively, collecting two of the three Junior National Team hits, including a solo home run in the top of the first.

Reid Clague (Victoria, BC) started on the mound for the Canadians and allowed a pair of earned runs on six hits with two strikeouts over 2 2/3 innings.

Jacob Wallace (Pincourt, Que.) held the Blue Jays to one run on four hits and punched out three over his 2 2/3 innings in relief.

Leo Cote (Ayer’s Cliff, Que.) picked up the only other hit for the Canadians, finishing his day with a 1-for-3 performance.

The 12-2 setback was slightly misleading as the Jays scored five runs in the bottom of the ninth with both teams agreeing to play the full nine.
