Kelowna's Wright enjoyed West Coast loop summer

Taylor Wright had the right stuff this summer in the West Coast League.

3B Wright (Vancouver, BC) was rated by Perfect Game Scouting as the 14th best prospect in the summer college league playing for the Kelowna Falcons, who lost in the league final to the Corvallis Knights.

This summer Wright, the former North Shore Twin, hit .295 with 10 doubles, a triple, four homers and 33 RBIs in 50 games. The University of Maryland Terps INF, helped Kelowna go 28-26 on the season to finish two games behind the Bellingham Bells.

In five playoff games, Wright batted .305 with a double, two homers and five RBIs. Kelowna edged Bellingham 4-2 in the opener of the semi-final, then lost 4-3 and won the deciding game over the Bells 7-6. The Falcons lost the opener of the final to Corvallis 17-6, who had eliminated the Portland Pickles. And then the Falcons lost the second game 5-1 to go out in straight games in the best-of-three final.

In the spring of 2018, his first at Maryland, he hit .230 with nine doubles, a triple, two homers and 25 RBIs with a .652 OPS in 47 games.

A year ago, Wright was a Perfect Game Summer Collegiate Second Team All-American hitting .337 with 12 doubles, 11 homers, 54 RBIs, 12 stolen bases and a 1.014 OPS.

In the spring of 2017, Wright batted .333 with the Colorado Northwestern Spartans with 17 doubles, two triples, five homers and 22 RBIs. He was 23-for-27 with a .997 OPS in 52 games.
