Ontario Blue Jays News Release
The Ontario Blue Jays are excited to announce that Eddie Largy will be returning in the Catching Coordinator role for the 2020-21 year.
Largy is no stranger to the Ontario Blue Jays, having filled a variety of roles in the past including: 13U & 17U Head Coach, 18U Associate Head Coach, Hitting Coordinator, Assistant College Placement Coordinator and Catching Coach. Earning the nickname "Everyday" Eddie after Hall of Fame writer Bob Elliott witnessed him throw two hours of batting practice on back-to-back showcase days.
Eddie played his local baseball for the Oakville Royals before heading to Carl Sandburg College for two seasons then transferring to Robert Morris University. He returned to coaching immediately upon his graduating spending time with Oakville before joining OBJ in 2015.
General Manager, Joe Ellison on bringing Largy back into the fold, "Eddie and I go back what feels like forever, from our time sorting uniforms in the storage room to organizing endless equipment for big road trips, it's great to be able to bring him back in such an important role. Eddie brings with him a contagious energy that's felt when he gets to a practice or game. I think our catchers are going to benefit from his approach and mentality towards what a catcher should be and will create leaders behind the plate both on and off the field. Eddie is an all-in kind of guy, so I hope our catchers are ready for that!"
Largy will join Tony Hrynkiw, Justin Marra and Mike Siena to develop the OBJ Catchers throughout the year.
