Crowson, Lumbard, McDowell, Wilkinson lead Dawgs to win

The Okotoks Dawgs defeated the Weyburn Beavers 6-2 on Thursday night to earn their 26th win of the season.

Solid pitching early and a third inning rally allowed the Dawgs to gain an early lead and hold on for the victory.

The Dawgs now own a 26-8 record and remain first in the west division.

Matt Wilkinson (Okotoks, Alta.) turned in a solid performance, registering seven strikeouts in six innings while only allowing four hits to earn his second win of the season.

Relief efforts from Cade Hermann, Bode Brooks and Rylan Penner (Blumenort, Man.) helped to secure the Dawgs’ victory.

The Dawgs’ offence was led by Connor Crowson (Okotoks, Alta.) who went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, one stolen base and one walk. Caleb Lumbard (Regina, Sask.) also had a solid performance collecting three hits and an RBI. Ricky Sanchez and Micah McDowell (Kentville, N.S.) both had two hits in the contest.

The Dawgs will host the Bombers on Friday night for the third game of their four-game homestand.
