Official Okotoks Dawgs News Release

The Okotoks Dawgs defeated the Edmonton Prospects 6-2 on Sunday afternoon.

The Dawgs scored first and had a three-run seventh inning, which gave them a lead they would not give up. They improve to 32-11, and remain first in the west division.

Graham Seltzer (Vancouver, B.C.) started on the mound and had a short outing, pitching two innings and finishing with three strikeouts before he was relieved in the third. Connor Robbins (Calgary, Alta.) earned his third win of the season. Relief efforts from Seth Thompson (Calgary, Alta.), Quinn Tocheniuk (Okotoks, Alta.), Cade Herrmann and Ryan McFarland (Calgary, Alta.) were able to shutdown the Prospects’ offence.

The Dawgs’ offence was led by Micah McDowell (Kentville, N.S.) and Ruben Cedillo who both had two hits and one run in the contest. Ricky Sanchez, Tucker Zdunich (High River, Alta.) and Caleb Lumbard (Regina, Sask.) each drove in one run. The Dawgs were able to score runs on three defensive errors made by the Prospects.

The Dawgs will return home to Seaman Stadium on Tuesday for a matchup with the Sylvan Lake Gulls.
