Kyle MacDonald was all-state in the spring.
MacDonald (Mississauga, Ont.) of the Arkansas State Red Wolves, was named to the All-Arkansas Collegiate Team by Natural State Baseball in July.
And when the summer ended he was named 29th best prospect on Perfect Game’s top 30 in the Northwoods League.
Playing for the Mankato MoonDogs, MacDonald batted .299 with 15 doubles, 16 homers and 75 RBIs in 69 games. After going 46-26, Mankato was edged in the first game of the playoff by the Wilmar Stingers 8-7 in 10 innings. Batting fifth and playing first, MacDonald, the former Ontario Terrier, hit a solo homer.
MacDonald started the season with an RBI double against the Duluth Huskies in the opener. To take a look at his home runs he hit:
A solo homer against St. Cloud Rox, then a homer and three RBIs against Wilmar, back-to-back solo homers against Rochester Honkers and Thunder Bay Border Cats, a two-run homer against Thunder Bay, a two-run homer facing Waterloo Bucks -- giving him five bombs in eight games -- then solo homers against Duluth and Wilmar, homered and knocked in five in a 24-1 romp over the Bismark Larks, homered to drive in four facing Eau Claire Express, had a three-run homer against Thunder Bay and finally two homers and four RBIs against Bismark.
In the spring, MacDonald led the Red Wolves in his first season after transferring from Crowder College Roughriders. He was named the Sun Belt Conference Newcomer of the Year for his efforts. He posted a triple-slash line of .346/.464/.665 with the .665 slugging percentage representing the seventh-best in school history and ranking as the best in the SBC.
MacDonald’s junior season included 15 home runs, tied for the second most in school history, to go along with 50 RBIs, which is the 10th most in A-State history. Additionally, he recorded 66 hits, hit 12 doubles, two triples and tallied 127 total bases. He was recently named to the American Baseball Coaches Central All-Region First Team.
Before Arkansas State, before Crowder and before the Terriers, MacDonald played for the Mississauga North Tigers, winning a provincial championship.
In addition to his Terriers schedule he played in Jupiter at the Perfect Game World Series, the Arizona Fall Classic, the Junior Sunbelt in Oklahoma, Selectfest in New Jersey and Tournament 12 at Rogers Centre.
