Abraham Toro was recalled by the Seattle Mariners prior to their game against the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday.

Toro (Longueuil, Que.) was promoted to replace Dylan Moore on the Mariners’ roster. Moore has been placed on the 10-day injured list with an oblique strain.

Toro started the 2022 season with the Mariners, batting .180 with eight home runs and 26 RBIs in 84 games before being demoted to triple-A on August 7.

The versatile Canadian has appeared at four different positions for the Mariners this season: second base, third base, first base and right field.

After a slow start with the triple-A Tacoma Rainiers, the Montreal Orioles of the Quebec Elite Junior Baseball League alum found his stride at the plate, hitting .323 in his last eight games, with four two-hit games.

Toro rejoins fellow Quebecers Charles Leblanc (Miami Marlins) and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (Toronto Blue Jays) in the big leagues.
