It was opening week for the Hendrix College Warriors and infielder Zach Marriott came out ready to play.
Marriott (Oakville, Ont.) started the season with a hit, a walk and an RBI as Hendrix thumped Ozarks 22-5.
He worked a walk in Game's 1 and 2 of their weekend series with the University of Dallas. The Warriors took the first game by a 12-1 score but dropped the second 5-4.
The smooth swinging left-handed hitter saved his best performance for the rubber match when he went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, a double and a stolen base in a 17-13 victory to secure the series.
Marriott is coming off a 2022 campaign that saw him hit .340 with five home runs, 32 RBI and a 1.001 OPS.
