There is no question the last few games have not gone the way the Mavericks would like. Despite the recent three-game skid, the team is remaining positive and keeping things upbeat in the locker room as well as on the field.

While the scoreboard certainly may tell one story, there are some positive and exciting things happening with the red and white.

With the Maverick leadership group stressing a "keep moving forward" mindset, there is no doubt that things will begin to trend in the right direction.

On Wednesday's loss to Brooks, Flynn Ridley struck out four of six batters allowing the Mavericks a puncher’s chance to get back into the game late. Austin Sojka and local product Nolan Rattai also showed well at the plate creating some much-needed momentum for the team.

While the Mavericks lost game one of their series against the leagues best Weyburn on Thursday night there is still a lot to be excited about as the team is in its final stages of the recruiting process.

Highly regarded right-handed pitcher Jon Guardado (University of Arizona) has arrived and is practicing with the team. Early reports suggest Guardado has the throwing ability to be one of the fastest pitchers the team has seen in recent seasons. According to Head Coach Tom Vessella, fans can expect to see him in the lineup very soon.

While game two goes tonight in Weyburn, the gas city's favourite ball team will return home Sunday (June 16) to face Moose Jaw (2:05 pm) with the highly anticipated Plaid For Dad event taking place at Athletic Park.
