Official Okotoks Dawgs News Release
The Okotoks Dawgs defeated the Edmonton Prospects 6-3 Sunday afternoon to earn their 20th win of the season.
The Dawgs are the first team in the WCBL to reach 20 wins this season and remain the top team in the west division with a record of 20-5.
Matt Wilkinson (Okotoks, Alta.) faced 21 batters in five innings and registered seven strikeouts, earning his first win of the season.
Relief efforts from Rylan Penner, Connor Robbins, Bode Brooks and Ryan McFarland (Calgary, Alta.) helped to control the Prospects’ offence and secure the Dawgs’ victory.
The Dawgs’ offence was able to capitalize on defensive errors made by the Prospects, scoring three runs. Micah McDowell (Kentville, N.S.) led the offence registering two hits, two RBIs and two runs while adding a walk to his stat line. Alex Stufft and Aidan Rose (Calgary, Alta.) both registered a hit and two runs in the contest.
The Dawgs will embark on a two-game road trip starting on Tuesday in Lethbridge and conclude the roast trip in Medicine Hat. The Dawgs will return to Seaman Stadium for their annual Canada Day weekend.
