Mendham named Coastal Plain League Player of the Week

The Coastal Plain League announced on Monday that David Mendham (Dorchester, Ont.) of the Savannah Bananas was named Hitter of the Week, while Patrick Halligan of the Martinsville Mustangs earned Pitcher of the Week honors for the fifith week of the CPL regular season (July 27 - August 2.) CPL Players of the Week are brought to you by Trackman Baseball, providing players and coaches next-generation analytical data all season long.

Mendham, an incoming junior at South Carolina, had his best week of the season for the Bananas posting a .692 batting average across four games and 13 at-bats. The Dorchester, Ont., native finished with nine total hits with three doubles and four RBIs for a .750 on-base percentage and .923 slugging. Mendham is now batting .345 on the season with four doubles, one triple and six runs scored.

On the mound, Halligan had the longest start of the CPL season giving up one run over eight strong innings on July 30 against division foe Peninsula. The sophomore at George Mason allowed only four hits while walking none and striking out 11 batters for a 0.50 WHIP and 12.38 strikeout per nine ratio. With only a few games to go, Halligan now holds a 4.00 ERA across five starts and 27 innings pitched to go along with 26 strikeouts this season for the Mustangs.
