Moose Jaw, Sask. - The Moose Jaw Miller Express defeated the Okotoks Dawgs 8-7 on Friday night in Game 2 of the best-of-three WCBL Championship Series.

The teams will now play a third-and-deciding game at Seaman Stadium on Saturday night to crown the 2024 WCBL champion.

Leadoff hitter Brendan Luther (Mississauga, Ont.) led the Dawgs’ offence with three hits and three runs, while Ricky Sanchez (Lamar University) added two hits and two RBIs.

Tucker Zdunich (High River, Alta.) also contributed two hits and Logan Grant (Chestermere, Alta.) belted a solo home run in the second inning for his first home run of the 2024 postseason.

On the mound, Brody Forno (Okotoks, Alta.) started and allowed two unearned runs in 4 1/3 innings.

Ryan McFarland (Calgary, Alta.) and Easton Corey (Linn-Benton CC) followed with scoreless innings, with Corey striking out the side in the seventh.

The Miller Express would score five runs off Brock Townsend (Bellevue University) and Ashton Luera (Oklahoma Wesleyan University) in the eighth to take the lead and earn the victory.
