Baseball Canada’s final National Championship of the season kicked off on Thursday in Summerside, PEI with all eight teams in action at the Dairy Queen Canada 13U National Atlantic Championships.

Here’s a look at the eight games that were played on Day One:

Fredericton (NB1) 13, Mount Pearl (NL2) 2

Fredericton took advantage of seven Mount Pearl errors and received a pair of RBI from Brady Blacquier to earn a 13-2 win. Tyler Stewart had a triple and drove in a run as part of a 2-for3 game at the plate.

Capital District (PE1) 11, Truro (NS2) 1

Luke Coughlin and Graysen LaPorte combined on a six-inning no-hitter to lead Capital District to an 11-1 win over Truro. Coughlin also was a factor at the plate belting a two-run homer to give Capital District the win via the mercy rule in the sixth inning.

Summerside (Host) 8, St. John’s (NL1) 4

Host Summerside struck for four runs in the top of the seventh and hung on to defeat St. John’s, 8-4, behind a combined no-hitter from Owen Jones and Hayden Ellis. Josh Burgess had a game at the plate going 2-for-4 with two doubles and three RBI while Jones struck out 10 over 5 1/3 innings of work.

Halifax (NS1) 3, Kennebecasis Valley (NB2) 2

Jackson Montreuil’s bunt single in the bottom of the seventh knocked in the winning run to cap a comeback as Halifax scored three times in the inning to walk-off with a 3-2 win over Kennebecasis Valley. The loss spoiled a solid effort on the mound from Matthew Leger who had tossed six scoreless innings prior to the seventh.

Capital District (PE1) 17, Mount Pearl (NL2) 3

Jack MacKinnon belted a grand slam and drove in five runs to lead Capital District to a 17-3 win over Mount Pearl. Graysen LaPorte contributed a 4-for-4 game at the plate including a triple and three RBI. Liam Noble had a triple and scored a run for Mount Pearl.

Fredericton (NB1) 3, Truro (NS2) 2

Jayden Chiasson tossed three scoreless innings and struck out four to earn the win as Fredericton defeated Truro, 3-2. Chiasson’s single in the sixth plated the go ahead run to give Fredericton two wins on the day. Aidan McBurnie had two hits including a double and two RBI in the loss.

Halifax (NS1) 17, Summerside (Host) 7

Halifax picked up their second win of the day and did so in convincing fashion with a 17-7 victory over host Summerside. Adam Crocker and Rory MacDonald knocked in a pair of runs each for a Halifax squad that registered 13 hits. MacDonald also tossed three scoreless innings and fanned three.

Kennebecasis Valley (NB2) 10, St. John’s (NL1) 5
