National Championships: Elimination games approaching

All three tournaments across Canada are heating up as Friday had some crucial games and Saturday starts the elimination period for some squads.

13U National Western Championship

Friday concluded the round robin play at the 13U National Westerns in Surrey. Saturday will see some placement games before getting right into the Semi-Finals.

British Columbia remains at the top of Group A with a 3-0 record. Both Manitoba squads boast a 2-1 record, with Manitoba (2) tied for first in Group B along with the host Cloverdale Spurs.

With eliminations coming Saturday, the Cloverdale Baseball Parks will be busy as up to six games could be completed.

18U National Championship

Competition is getting intense in London as the 18U National Championship enters its final day of Round Robin games tomorrow. Saturday will also see the first Quarter-Final.

Québec remains undefeated with a 3-0 record. They defeated Saskatchewan 10-2 and edged the host London Badgers 7-6 to come away with two victories on Friday.

The tournament remains tight as Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, and Manitoba all share a 2-1 record.

Québec 10, Saskatchewan 2

Manitoba 4, British Columbia 3

21U Men’s National Championship

Another four games were completed in Gatineau at the 21U Men’s National Championship.

Ontario and Québec have yet to be defeated with two wins apiece. Ontario narrowly defeated the host Gatineau to end Friday’s competition.

Saturday will prove to be a very crucial day which will set the stage for Sunday’s elimination games.
