National Championships: PEI squads remain unbeaten at 13U National Atlantic

OTTAWA –Summerside and Capital District, squads representing Prince Edward Island, picked up wins on Friday at the 13U National Atlantic Championships in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and have advanced to the semi-finals.

They will be joined in the semi-finals by the clubs representing Nova Scotia in host Dartmouth along with Yarmouth as each have recorded 2-1 records.

Yasu Hojo belted a double and a triple while Jack MacKinnon smacked a pair of doubles to lead Capital District to a 5-2 victory over Fredericton while Brayden Bruce fired four strikeouts in 4 1/3 innings of one-run ball to record the win.

In a battle of unbeaten squads, Summerside scored four times in the top of the seventh to come away with an 8-6 win over host Dartmouth to pick up their third win of the tournament.

Owen Jones knocked in two runs for the victors while Jacarden Pelley had three hits in the loss for Dartmouth.

In other action, Yarmouth got by Conception Bay South, 10-2, with Sam Hope connecting on a home run while Marcus Wilson drove in five runs to lead Capital District over St. John’s, 11-0.
