Nine Dawgs named to WCBL All-Star Game

Okotoks, Alta. – The Okotoks Dawgs Baseball Club is pleased to announce the selection of the following Dawgs players to the Western Canadian Baseball League West Division All-Star Team:

RHP Brody Forno (Okotoks, Alta.) gets his first all-star game selection, starting the season 3-0 with 20 strikeouts and an ERA of 1.06. RHP Ryan McFarland (Calgary, Alta.) gets the nod with a 1.53 ERA in 17 2/3 innings pitched. Catcher Logan Grant (Chestermere, Alta.) earned his spot batting .447 with two home runs and 12 RBIs. Infielder Connor Crowson (Okotoks, Alta.) made the cut batting .429 with 15 RBIs and scoring 22 runs.

Outfielder Titus Dumitru has had an impact offensively sporting a .432 average with 15 RBIs and five home runs. Cole Cramer has been terrific so far batting .365 with 19 hits and 13 RBIs. RHP Seth Thompson (Calgary, Alta.) has been the model of consistency coming out of the bullpen this season with an ERA of 0.00 and tossing 12 strikeouts. RHP Brady Wilson (Calgary, Alta.) has impressed with an ERA of 0.58, one save, and 14 strikeouts. Noah Geekie (Strathclair, Man.) earned All-Star honours as the Dawgs utility man has displayed impressive numbers on the mound and at the plate. Nash Crowell (Yarmouth, N.S.) was selected to be the Dawgs representative in the Home Run Derby with six home runs this season.

The coaching staff of the West Division will also have some Dawgs representation. Pitching coach Joe Sergent, infield coach Andy Peterson, and Dawgs coaching legend Dave Robb will all be in the dugout for the West All-Star team with interim manager Lou Pote at the helm.

The All-Star Game is scheduled to begin at 7:05 pm on Saturday, July 15 at beautiful Seaman Stadium in Okotoks. The gates will open at 4 p.m., the event will feature a 5 p.m. home run derby, autograph signings by former Major League standout and Canadian Baseball Hall of Famer Matt Stairs (Fredericton, N.B.), musical entertainment, a pre-game show, and a post-game fireworks display.
