Quebec right-hander Mathieu Deneault-Gauthier delivered another solid mound performance on Saturday.

In his eighth start of the season for the West Texas A&M University Buffs, the 23-year-old tossed six strong innings to lead his club to a 4-3 win over the St-Mary’s University Rattlers. It was his sixth win of the season.

In picking up the victory, Deneault-Gauthier (Candiac, Que.) struck out the side in the fourth inning to account for three of his six strikeouts in the contest.

The Rattlers scored their only two runs off the Junior National Team alum in the third inning when after a single and a walk, a run scored on an error. He then allowed another single that plated the second run.

But the former Ducs de Longueuil’s teammates’ would rally to score three runs in the sixth inning to give the Buffs a 4-2 lead.

In total, Deneault-Gather allowed two runs on eight hits in six innings. The author of a no hitter at Tournament 12 at the Rogers Centre, he threw 92 pitches.
