Outfielder Kyle Tucker of the Houston Astros has been named the American League Player of the Month presented by Chevrolet for September/October, and outfielder Tyler O’Neill (Maple Ridge, B.C.) of the St. Louis Cardinals has been voted the National League Player of the Month presented by Chevrolet for September/October. The announcements were made on Monday on MLB Network.

Tucker was awarded his first career AL Player of the Month Award and is Houston’s first winner since Alex Bregman in August 2019. O’Neill simialrly claimed his first career NL Player of the Month Award and is the first recipient for St. Louis since teammate Paul Goldschmidt in July 2019.

• Posted a slash line of .346/.438/.692 with 20 runs scored, 36 hits, 10 doubles, a triple, eight home runs, 19 RBI and two stolen bases over 30 games played.

• Homered in consecutive games over the weekend to reach the 30-homer plateau for the first time in his career.

• Became the third player in franchise history to post a 30-homer season at age 24-or younger, joining his teammates Bregman and Yordan Álvarez.

• Was consistent all month for the Astros, delivering 11 multi-hit games while notching at least one hit in all but seven of his 30 games played.

• Batted .328 (39-for-119) with 31 runs scored, seven doubles, a triple, 13 home runs, 30 RBI, five stolen bases and a .731 slugging percentage across 32 games.

• Tallied 19 RBI across 11 games from September 14th-24th, becoming the youngest Cardinals hitter to accomplish the feat since Albert Pujols in 2006.

• His 13 round-trippers in September/October were the fourth-most by a Cardinals player in team history, trailing only Mark McGwire’s 14 homers in 1999 and McGwire’s 15 homers in 1997 and 1998.

• Became the fourth player (fifth time) in franchise history to log at least 34 home runs and 15 stolen bases in a single season, joining Hall of Famer Rogers Hornsby (1922), Fernando Tatis (1999) and Albert Pujols (2005 & 2009).
