Ontario Blue Jays postpone all U.S. travel until August
June 5, 2020
Ontario Blue Jays News Release
On the heels of the extension of the State of Emergency Act in Ontario and the extended US/Canadian Border closure, the Ontario Blue Jays have made the difficult decision to postpone all travel to the United States until August 1, 2020.
"It's been a crazy couple months" said OBJ GM, Joe Ellison.
He continued, "To think our program hasn't seen each other for almost three months is painful and surreal but we understand that sometimes there is more to life than baseball, no matter how hard that is to accept. We've put the safety of our players, coaches and parents first. When we bring a player into this program we only promise a few things: professional level development, incredible collegiate/professional exposure, first-class facilities and that we will provide a safe environment for them to push themselves towards their goals. The tough decisions we've made as an organization I believe has shown our commitment to that final promise, a safe environment for our OBJ Family."
The Ontario Blue Jays had been scheduled to attend tournaments all over the United States this Summer including: 16/17U Perfect Game WWBA National Championships, 16/17U Future Stars Series National Championships, 15-17U Marucci World Series', various Pastime National Championships and many more at all levels.
The program is preparing for the OBJ Collegiate Fall Schedule and the beginning of the OBJ Fall Development League as normally scheduled prior to the COVID outbreaks. The OBJ Collegiate Fall Team will take on Bossier Parish Community College on August 28th at 2:00pm before heading to San Jacinto College in Houston, Texas on August 29th. Meanwhile OBJ 14-17U teams will get started a week early this year, on Labour Day Weekend.
