Lefty Jordan Woods has commited o the East Tennessee State University Buccaneers ( NCAA D1).
Woods (Oakville, Ont.) has been a major cog in the Terriers rotation for the past three years.
The lefty consistently repeats his easy but intense delivery. His curve and change project as plus and both generate a lot of defensive swings.
His mid-80s fastball routinely plays up because he commands it to both sides of the plate.
Overall, Woods demonstrates exemplary command of his entire arsenal of pitches.
ETSU was founded in 1911 and is located in Johnson City, Tenn. It is the fourth largest university in the state. Just 30 minutes from campus students can hike the Appalachian Trail, view natural wilderness and explore the world- famous Rhododendron Gardens atop Roan Mountain (elevation 6,285 ft).
He worked in the CPBL All-Star game in September and competed at the prestigious Oklahoma Sunbelt Tournament in 2019. Before transitioning all his athletic talent toward the mound, Woods played goal in the GTHL, bagging two championships along the way.
The ETSU Buccaneers are members of the NCAA D1 Southern Conference. Before the COVID-19 shutdown this past spring they had an impressive 12-3 record (.800). The Bucs were ranked 55th in the nation. Their schedule is top notch with games against Clemson, Virginia Tech, the University of Tennessee and The Citadel.
Woods, who pitched for Jeff Lamont’s Oakville A’s, will study kinesiology at ETSU.
