The Ontario Terriers are excited to announce the formation of a 14U team.
Starting in the fall of 2022, the 14U team will hit the field and will be led by head coach Adam Crowley.
Crowley brings a wealth of experience to the position, having coached younger players for a number of years.
“I've coached players born in 2009 for the last six seasons. I recognized the talent of the age group across Ontario and wanted to help provide that next level baseball experience for those players as they enter their 14U seasons,” Crowley said. “The Terriers and Rick Johnston have such a great reputation in baseball in this province and beyond. I have a lot of respect for Rick as a baseball leader and person.”
The team will enable the Terriers to develop players at a younger age and prepare them both on and off the field as they make their way through high school and on to the next level.
“For the players joining the Terriers at 14U, the resources and information they will be able to tap into is massive,” Crowley said. “The experience of the coaches, older players and the commitment of the organization to provide young players access to those individuals to gather information will be instrumental in their long-term development. Implementing a 14U team will allow the Terriers to offer a full five-year program from 14U through 18U and really assist players in their journey from Grade 8 through the end of high school as they prepare for college.”
Crowley says the expectations for the players will be high, but it’ll be an experience that will help prepare them for their future in the classroom and in baseball.
“Each player will be expected to carry themselves in a professional manner, be great students and great teammates, deal with adversity, and develop great habits in terms of how to work each day to get better individually and as a collective,” he said. “Players joining the 14U Terriers can expect a loose, competitive, hard working practice and game environment, continuous teaching and plenty of challenges on the field. Off the field, players are going to be part of an organization with strong core values that will help guide how we behave and carry ourselves. There will be plenty of opportunity to travel, to showcase skills and to engage with teammates outside of baseball activities.”
The Terriers 14U team will compete in the Canadian Premier Baseball League with the Ontario Blue Jays, Ontario Astros, Great Lake Canadians, Ontario Nationals, Fieldhouse Pirates, Toronto Mets and the Titans Baseball Club.
