Official Ottawa Titans News Release
Ottawa, Ont. - The Ottawa Titans Baseball Club have announced the re-signing of right-handed pitcher Thomas Bruss and the addition of left-handed pitcher Javier Reynoso for the upcoming 2024 Frontier League season.
Bruss, 24, returns to the nation’s capital after splitting the 2023 season with the Titans and the Lake Erie Crushers. In 32 total appearances out of the bullpen, the righty went 1-1 with a 5.06 ERA over 37 1/3 innings. The 6-foot-8 power arm fanned 37 opposing hitters. Bruss worked in seven contests for the Titans, allowing just three runs over 6 1/3 frames with seven punchouts.
Hailing from Rochester, Minn., Bruss broke into professional baseball with the New Jersey Jackals in 2022, going 1-0 in 12 games out of the bullpen. Before hitting the pro ranks, Bruss spent five seasons of collegiate baseball at Augustana University (Sioux Falls, S.D.) from 2018 to 2022. For the Vikings, the towering hurler was a career 9-8 with a 4.52 ERA over 64 appearances (three starts, 61 in relief) and 93 1/3 innings, striking out an impressive 114, good enough for an 11.0 K/9.
Reynoso, 31, joins the Titans after returning to professional baseball last summer with the Windy City ThunderBolts. Working in 12 contests a year ago (10 starts, two in relief), Reynoso went 4-1 with a 4.57 ERA over 63 innings – walking 31 and striking out 61. In eight of his starts, the lefty tossed into the sixth inning, which included nine dominant innings in his final start of the season on August 31 against Lake Erie.
A product of Odessa, Fla., Reynoso was selected by the Kansas City Royals in the 23rd round of the 2013 MLB Draft. The 5-foot-11 southpaw played collegiately at Middle Georgia State University (Macon, Ga.) and Coastal Carolina University (Conway, S.C.) before turning pro.
Reynoso is a lifetime 12-12 with a 5.17 ERA in 117 appearances (24 starts, 93 in relief) over 235 innings between the affiliated minor league ranks, Mexico, the Can-Am League, and the Frontier League.
The Ottawa Titans open the 2024 season on Friday, May 10 against the New England Knockouts. The Titans’ home opener is scheduled for Tuesday, May 21 versus the Tri-City ValleyCats at Ottawa Stadium.
