Ottawa Titans sign Marin, Molinari

Ottawa, Ont. - The Ottawa Titans have signed infielder Ivan Marin and catcher Daniel Molinari.
Marin, 34, returns to professional baseball in North America for the first time since 2019. The veteran played three seasons for Bobby Brown and the Lincoln Saltdogs of the American Association from 2017 to 2019. In three seasons with the Saltdogs, Marin hit .233 with five homers and 50 RBIs in 240 games. This past season, Marin suited up for the Rivas Giants of the Nicaraguan Professional League, hitting .248 in 46 games.
Hailing from Granada, Nicaragua, Marin broke into professional baseball with the Atlanta Braves organization in 2010. The 5-foot-10 infielder has previous experience playing third base, second base, and shortstop. Marin has recently been named to Team Nicaragua for the upcoming World Baseball Classic this spring.
Molinari, 26, joins the Titans after splitting the 2022 campaign with three different clubs throughout the independent circuit. In 42 games, Molinari hit .254 with three home runs and 17 RBIs for the Pioneer League’s Ogden Raptors and Idaho Falls Chukars and the American Association’s Lake Country DockHounds. The 5-foot-11 right-handed hitter has played catcher, first base, and in the outfield over the course of a five-year professional career.
The Palo Alto, Calif., product is experienced across four independent professional leagues since his 2018 debut. This past fall, Molinari suited up for Brazil at the World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, going 1-for-8 at the dish.
The Ottawa Titans open the 2023 season at home on Friday, May 12 against the Empire State Greys.
