Ottawa, ON - The Ottawa Titans have signed outfielder Tyler Duncan, left-handed pitcher Grant Larson, and infielder Jackie Urbaez for the 2022 Frontier League season.

Duncan, 23, comes to the nation’s capital after spending the 2021 season with Arkansas State University.

The Sooke, B.C., native appeared in 49 games a year ago, hitting .303 with 11 home runs and 54 RBIs. Duncan slugged a team-best .556 with 13 doubles and two triples. He also posted 20 multi-hit games and 12 games with multiple RBIs.

Selected in the 23rd round in the 2016 MLB draft out of Edward Milne Community School (Sooke, BC), Duncan elected not to sign to attend Arkansas State University. In 118 career collegiate games, Duncan hit .291 with 16 homers, adding 101 RBIs.

Larson, 25, enters his second season of professional baseball in 2022, after suiting up for the Great Falls Voyageurs of the Pioneer League last season.

A native of San Diego, Calif., Larson pitched to a 2-5 record, with a 3.18 ERA in 45 1/3 innings in relief.

In his college days, the 6-foot-7-inch lefty spent three seasons at Chico State University (Chico, Calif.) and one year at the University of Central Oklahoma (Edmond, Okla.).

During a shortened 2020 season, Larson led all Wildcat pitchers in victories (4), strikeouts (31), and innings pitched (39).

Urbaez, 24, comes north of the border after spending the 2021 season with the Sussex County Miners of the Frontier League. The Miami native hit .261 with one homer and 14 RBIs in 58 games.

After originally signing with the Titans for the 2021 season, Urbaez was selected by Evansville in the Dispersal Draft and was subsequently traded to Sussex County. Earlier this offseason, he was acquired alongside Gavin Sonnier, in exchange for Gunnar Kines.

Selected by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 29th round of the 2019 MLB draft, Urbaez reached A-ball before his release in 2020.

Urbaez spent the 2019 season with the Arizona League’s Brewers Blue and Carolina League’s Carolina Mudcats, hitting a collective .194 in 57 games with two home runs and 23 RBIs.

A graduate of Saint Thomas University (Miami Gardens, Fla.), the 5-foot-9 infielder had a career .343 average, hitting 17 home runs, and 118 RBI in 125 college games.

Urbaez was named to the All-Sun Conference First-Team and a Second-Team NAIA All-American following the season in 2019.

In other news, the team has also signed right-handed pitcher Jarod Sprinkle. The Lufkin, Tex., native pitched two seasons at Angelina College in 2017 and 2018.

The Ottawa Titans are scheduled to hit the field in late spring of 2022 playing in the Frontier League, a partner league of Major League Baseball.
