CAMBRIDGE - The Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) is pleased to announce that former Burlington Twin/Bandits third baseman Connor Panas has been honoured on the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) 40th Anniversary baseball team.

Panas who spent the 2012 and 2013 seasons with the Burlington franchise went on to be drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the ninth round of the 2015 MLB June Amateur Draft from Canisius College. Panas spent five seasons in the minors, reaching as high as triple-A with San Diego.

One of the most decorated student-athletes in Canisius' history, Panas was a four-year starter for the Golden Griffins from 2012-15. He was named the MAAC Male Student-Athlete in both 2013-14 and 2014-15, making him just the third male student-athlete in league history to win that award in consecutive seasons, and he was a three-time All-MAAC honoree on the field as well. One of three players in program history to be voted the MAAC Tournament MVP, he will forever hold the distinction of being the first player in school history to hit a home run in a NCAA Tournament game.

The Intercounty Baseball League (IBL), in its 102nd year of operation, is the best baseball league in Canada, boasting ex-major league professional and elite NCAA college baseball players. The IBL is the fifth-longest continually operated baseball league in the world and serves as a valuable training ground for coaches, umpires, and front office staff. More than 40 IBL players have advanced to Major League Baseball or returned to the IBL following their MLB careers.
