Miles Coates belted a first inning grand slam to give Parkland all of the offence they would need as they capped an undefeated tournament (5-0) with the championship title.

Winnipeg South’s Cohen Lewko, Cole Secord and Quinn Lagace all homered in the loss.

The bronze medal game featured an all-BC battle with Ridge Meadows scoring three times in the seventh to edge Victoria, 11-9.

Ian Nesbitt knocked in three runs for Ridge Meadows including an RBI single in the top of the seventh as part of a 2-for-4 game at the plate.

Victoria received home runs from Sawyer Gelling and Will Henzi.

In Fort McMurray, Mississauga (Ontario) rolled to a 15-1 win over Metro (New Brunswick) to win the 18U Championship.

David Stanley paced Mississauga’s 16-hit attack with a 4-for-4 game at the plate, including a double and four RBIs while Seth Hedges drove in four runs in the game that went just five innings due to the mercy rule.

Chris Melvin pitched all five innings, allowing just one run on two hits and six walks while striking out three batters.

In the bronze medal game, a successful double steal in the top of the eighth saw Ben Shugar cross home plate to give Mid-Island (BC) a one-run lead over Saskatoon (Saskatchewan), and they held on for the win with Lucas Laukkanen tossing a scoreless bottom of the eighth.
