Patterson named NSAA's top player, Brook, McCorrister also honoured

VALLEY CITY, N.D. – The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) announced its postseason baseball awards Thursday evening in the awards banquet Thursday evening at Vikings Eagle Club.

The North Star Baseball All-Conference teams, postseason awards and Gold Glove team were voted on by the league's coaches.

The NSAA Baseball First-Team All-Conference consists of 18 recipients. The Second Team All-Conference have 16 selections. Bellevue (Neb.) landed a total of 11 selections to the All-Conference teams, with nine athletes being named to First-Team and two athletes on the Second-Team.

JT Patterson (Calgary, Alta.) of Bellevue was named to the North Star Baseball's Player-of-the-Year. His teammate Stephen Knapp was voted as the conference's Pitcher-of-the-Year. Jacob Rosales of Valley City State (N.D.) was selected as its Newcomer-of-the-Year.

Duane Monlux was picked as the conference's Coach-of-the-Year after guiding the Bruins to a 23-1 record, earning the league title outright.

The North Star Athletic Association Baseball Postseason Conference Tournaments kicks off Friday morning and runs through Monday. The winner of the conference tournament will receive the NSAA's automatic bid to the NAIA Baseball National Tournament Opening Round at nine different sites announced by the NAIA on May 13-16.

Editor’s Note: Patterson was also named to the NSAA All-Conference First Team and won a Gold Glove for his work at third base. Elmwood Giants alum Aiden Brook (Oarbank, Man.), who starred for Valley State this year, was named the catcher on the NSAA All-Conference Second Team where he was joined by fellow Manitoban Jared McCorrister (Boissevain, Man.) who was named an outfielder on that team for his efforts for Mayville State.
