Official Okotoks Dawgs News Release

The Okotoks Dawgs defeated the Sylvan Lake Gulls 8-4 on Saturday night.

The Dawgs’ offence started the game strong, scoring two runs in the first and adding to their run total as the game progressed. Solid pitching kept the Gulls’ offence quiet after the fourth.

With a record of 31-11, the Dawgs remain first in the west division.

David Case started on the mound and had his first rocky outing of the season, allowing four runs on 10 hits. Relief efforts from Jackson Fraser (Saskatoon, Sask.), Ryan McFarland (Calgary, Alta.) and Matt Wilkinson (Okotoks, Alta.) shut the door on any possibility of a comeback as the Gulls failed to score after the fourth inning.

The Dawgs’ offence was led by Tucker Zdunich (High River, Alta.) who went 3-for-5 with two RBIs. Jake Hoskins was inserted into the lineup at the last second and made an impact with two RBIs, two runs, a walk and a hit. McCoy Pearce (Kamloops, B.C.) blasted his fifth home run of the season and finished the game 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

The Dawgs will travel to Edmonton on Sunday for a brief road trip before returning home to Seaman Stadium on Tuesday for a matchup with the Sylvan Lake Gulls.
