ST. LOUIS - Seven Southern Illinois Saluki players earned spots on the All-Missouri Valley Conference teams, the league announced Tuesday. Brad Harrison earned first-team honors as a starting pitcher. Cody Cleveland (second base), Nick Neville (shortstop), J.T. Weber (outfield), Tristan Peters (outfield), and Trey McDaniel (relief pitcher) were all second-team honorees. Philip Archer (first base) was named to the honorable mention team. Peters was also named to the All-Defensive team.

Brad Harrison, a senior, is 8-0 with a 3.70 ERA and 88 strikeouts in 14 starts for SIU this season. He ranks in the top-10 in the MVC in ERA, opposing batting average, innings pitched, strikeouts, and wins. He hasn’t allowed more than four runs in any start all year and has six starts of 6+ innings and three or fewer earned runs, most notably a complete-game shutout with 10 strikeouts and zero walks against Missouri State. Harrison is also a two-time member of the MVC Scholar-Athlete teams (2018, 2019) and was an honorable mention All-MVC pick in 2018.

Cody Cleveland, a sophomore, hit .353 with seven doubles, a triple, five home runs and 23 RBIs. He slashed .353/.447/.555 in 38 games and 35 starts. He ranks sixth in the league in batting average, sixth in on-base percentage, and eighth in slugging percentage. He was named MVC Player of the Week after going 11-for-17 in SIU’s series win at Indiana State.

Nick Neville, a senior, hit .295/.371/.553 and started 54 games at shortstop for the Salukis. He hit 10 doubles, 14 homers, and scored a league-leading 57 runs. He ranked fifth in the league in hits, sixth in RBIs, ninth in slugging percentage, second in home runs and third in total bases. At shortstop, he also helped SIU turn 44 double plays, which led the MVC.

J.T. Weber, a junior, hit .312/.370/.363 and started all 56 games for the Salukis in left field. Weber hit 13 doubles and 13 homers and drove in an MVC-best 56 runs. Weber led the MVC in RBIs and sac flies, and he also ranked among the league leaders in doubles (8th), slugging percentage (5th), runs scored (4th), home runs (4th), hits (3rd), and total bases (2nd). Weber was named National Player of the Week by Collegiate Baseball after a series against Evansville in which he reached base in 11 consecutive plate appearances.

Tristan Peters, a sophomore, hit .350/.460/.535 for SIU and started all 56 games for SIU in centre field. He hit an MVC-leading 18 doubles and five home runs and drove in 49 runs while scoring 48 runs. Peters (Winkler, Man.) led the MVC in hits, walks and doubles, and ranked third in the league in both on-base percentage, stolen bases and RBIs. Notably, Peters walked nearly twice as much as he struck out (43 walks, 24 strikeouts). Defensively, he had a perfect fielding percentage and a pair of outfield assists. Peters earned MVC Player of the Week honors earlier this season, as well.
