LEXINGTON, Ky. – Kentucky baseball players Mitchell Daly and Emilien Pitre have been received Division I Academic All-America honours, the College Sports Communicators announced Tuesday.
Daly was voted to the Second Team and Pitre (Repentigny, Que.) the Third Team. This is the fourth consecutive season UK has had a representative on the prestigious list.
They represent the eighth and ninth Kentucky players to receive Academic All-America distinction in school history, now six during coach Nick Mingione’s eight-season tenure. Criteria included at least a 3.50 grade point average and significant playing time.
Daly, a graduate transfer from Madison, Ala., has earned a 3.90 in Communication. He transferred to UK from Texas after the 2023 season and recently was named to both the Lexington Regional All-Tournament Team and Southeastern Conference All-Defensive Team. He crushed a game-winning, walk-off home run in the Wildcats’ first College World Series game.
Pitre, a junior from Repentigny, Que., has shined in the classroom and on the field despite English being his second language. He owns a 3.56 GPA in Management and now is a two-time Academic All-District honoree. He earned Lexington Regional All-Tournament Team last week and is a two-time member of the SEC’s All-Defensive Team. He also has been named to multiple All-America teams for 2024.
