BRANTFORD – Dalton Pompey finished a home run short of the cycle to lead the Guelph Royals to a 14-11 win in Brantford Friday night.

The former Toronto Blue Jays’ outfielder and Mississauga, Ont., native drove in four and scored three times. Sean Reilly drilled a two-run blast in the seventh inning, while Justin Interisano had an RBI and scored twice and Brendan Keys had two hits, an RBI and a run.

Lukas Berry started for the Royals (9-7) and allowed nine runs on nine hits over 5 2/3 innings. He walked six and struck out nine. Ben Reid finished the game to earn the win, allowing two runs on four hits with five strikeouts.

Evan Ryan hit a three-run home run for the Red Sox, who fell to 0-15. Spencer Jamieson went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs, Liam Sutherland had three hits, an RBI and two runs, Jesse Fishbaum drove in two, Troy Banks had an RBI, Nick Burdett went 3-for-5 with a solo home run and Jaret Lupton picked up a pair of hits and scored twice.

Sloppy defence hurt Brantford starter Garrett Larner, who gave up seven unearned runs on four hits over 4 2/3 innings. He walked seven and struck out three. Gabe Bruder took the loss, giving up two runs on a hit and a walk in 1/3 of an inning in relief.
